When I learned not long ago that there was a possibility that Jerry Seinfeld was going to be at the same memorial service I’d be attending, my first thought was, “I hope his wife will be there too…” Weird, I know, especially for star-struck me. But I am a devoted user of Jessica Seinfeld’s cook book Deceptively Delicious, which uses vegetable and fruit purees as imperceptible ingredients in yummy recipes. While our favorite in the book has to be the cauliflower banana bread (delicious, I swear, and a great use for those rapidly browning bananas), lately I’d been hearing repeated requests from my little people for spinach brownies. They KNOW there’s spinach in there and they still request them! Yum.

Before baking. Can you see the flecks of spinach?

Thumbs up from the little people. (Be sure to puree your carrots -- yes, there are carrots in there too -- better than I did. See that chunk on the plate?)

In case you’re wondering, neither of the Seinfelds attended that memorial service.
