I’m not a spendthrift.  In fact, I have been accused many times of being cheap.  But I did order some more yarn.  The Knit Picks order was just $16 thanks to some Swish colors that were on sale.

I also bought myself some aran weight handspun for my birthday.  I’m debating whether to make some fingerless mitts like these or a hat like this— or maybe even a cowl like this or this.  I’m open to pattern suggestions!  (I have about 170 yards.)  I’m not used to spending so much on one skein of yarn so I want to be sure to make something that will get a lot of wear.  I’m most likely to wear a hat, but I am also likely to have a lot of unwanted leftovers.  If I try a cowl, I’ll be killing two birds with one stone — trying handspun AND trying a cowl, two things I’ve been wanting to do.  But there’s the risk I won’t wear a cowl.  (I’m not a huge scarf wearer.)  The mitts — my original choice — may be the path of least resistance (but most boredom).  Again, I welcome suggestions!  🙂
