I decided to test out two potential borders for my granny squares. Not only did I determine that I prefer the continued granny square edging (over the single crochet), but I also determined that my border color is not really blue — it’s practically purple!
YUCK! That was not the look I was going for at all. So I took a quick trip to Imagiknit to get an alternative. I couldn’t find what I was looking for in either Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran or Cascade 220 Superwash (the two yarns I was already using in the squares) but, thankfully, I did find precisely the color I wanted in Spud & Chloe Sweater.
It’s a dark blue but not a navy. Interestingly, it’s a color I have actually used before — in my LuLu Kerchief. Although it does have cotton in addition to wool, it’s still superwash so overall it’ll go fine with the other yarns in the squares. Phew! This color also makes me feel better about the dark green I was using in the squares. It had been seeming to me to be too bright compared to the other colors. But somehow the darker blue makes it work . Yea!
Coming soon — socks and garment news!
